MARYLOU FORREST ALOHA SEA GLASS Living by the ocean has been part of Marylou’s life since she was a child, so it's no wonder that collecting and working with sea glass is her passion. She began beaded jewelry making 35 years ago, eventually leading her to the ocean and it's hidden treasures. Using only genuine sea glass collected from the Northern CA coast, she creates her own unique designs. The incorporation of pearls, charms, sterling and fine silver, 23 kt gold, PMC, gemstones, vintage crystals and enameled copper sets her pieces apart. Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind reflection of her artistic vision. Always seeking to expand and grow, Marylou has recently been learning Keum Boo, filigree, etching, and enameled copper. Marylou has found that sea glass collecting and jewelry is the perfect balance to her busy life as a wife, mother and nurse. Not only a creative and artistic outlet, she has formed close bonds with the sea glass community and finds inspiration and fellowship through her relationships with other sea glass collectors. In her own words, Aloha Sea Glass is "inspired by all of my sea glass friends who hunt, gather and share treasures together".
I use only genuine ocean tumbled sea glass for my jewelry. Most of my work is with fine and sterling silver. I hand make each bezel to fit the individual piece of glass. I combine glass with gem stones, pearls, shell and 23 karat gold. I let the piece of sea glass decide whether it will become a ring, bracelet, pendant or part of an earring set. I also etch and enamel copper into mermaids, seahorses and shells.
